Welcome to the Mora-San Miguel Electric Co-op, Inc. web site! We are a member-owned electric cooperative lighting the way for 9,781 consumers at the flip of a switch and providing instant power for all the needs of our Residential, Commercial, Power Service and Industrial Consumers in Mora, San Miguel, Guadalupe and a part of Santa Fe counties. Our mission is to focus on customer needs and provide premium service with integrity and reliable power at the lowest prices possible.

The Mora-San Miguel Electric Cooperative, Inc. was incorporated on December 17, 1940. World War II intervened at the time and all operations halted until after the war.

Immediately after the war, operations continued and the construction of 184 miles of distribution lines to serve 600 consumers in Mora and San Miguel Counties started. The first lines were energized in October, 1946.

The first loan borrowed from R.E.A. in 1945 was for $96,000.00. In 1947 an additional $177,000.00 was borrowed to build 298 miles of lines to serve 766 more consumers.

Today we serve 9,781 consumers and a total of 1,714 miles of lines in Mora, San Miguel, Guadalupe and Santa Fe Counties. Our net utility plant is $10,487,118. Our main office is in Mora, New Mexico in the heart of Mora on highway 518 and our district office in Pecos, New Mexico is on the old Santa Fe Road.

We started the new century with lower rates for our members with the merger of Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association, Inc. and Plains Generation and Transmission. The merger will assure our continued lower rates for electricity. We welcome you and again, we are happy to serve you!
