Tri-State named "Top Company" by ColoradoBiz Magazine

Tri-State has been named the winner in the energy and natural resources category of ColoradoBiz Magazine’s 2009 Top Company awards program. The program, now in its 22nd consecutive year, recognizes Colorado’s top performing companies on the basis of sustained financial performance, operational excellence and community involvement.

"Obviously, we’re honored to have been recognized with this award," said Ken Anderson, Tri-State’s executive vice president and general manager. "The accomplishments we’ve experienced as an organization and the quality of performance we’ve sustained over the years is a direct reflection of the commitment and dedication displayed from everyone throughout our organization – including our board of directors, our employees and our member system co-ops."

Top Company is widely regarded as Colorado's most competitive business awards program. After rigorous evaluations, long-time program sponsor Deloitte selects the finalists from a host of nominated companies. A panel of business professionals and leading policy officials then convenes to determine winners in each of the 11 industry sectors.

Said ColoradoBiz publisher Bart Taylor, "The roster of Top Company award winners reflects the quality of businesses operating at the forefront of our economy in Colorado. Even in what has become an historic economic downturn, businesses like Tri-State are finding a way to sustain themselves financially through operational excellence, innovation and hard work. This is the core of the Top Company mission: recognizing the contributions of the people and firms making an impact in our communities through their success."

Joining Tri-State as finalists in the energy and natural resources category were Bill Barrett Corp. (gas and oil exploration/development) and Newmont Mining (one of the world's largest gold companies). This year's winners were announced Sept. 15 at an awards luncheon in Denver.
