Tri-State pursues research to ensure the cleanest, most responsible means possible in the production of its electricity supply.

 

 

Demonstration Projects

 

  • Aquatic life studySan Miguel River Aquatic Life Community Study - An evaluation of fish and macroinvertebrate species’ condition in southwestern Colorado near Tri-State’s Nucla Station. Temperature standards will be developed to protect the aquatic life species in the San Miguel River.

  •  

  • Tree Project - This project seeks to identify how trees can be used to optimize energy and water conservation, while also promoting carbon emissions sequestration and mitigation.

  •  

  • Groundwater Data Management and Analysis - This project uses software to compile and evaluate groundwater data collected at Tri-State facilities. Studies have been conducted to understand the complex groundwater conditions at Escalante Station and to upgrade some operations, including relining two evaporation ponds to provide additional environmental protection.
