Western Fuels-Colorado announces name change to Elk Ridge Mining and Reclamation.
Western Fuels-Colorado, LLC, has changed its name to Elk Ridge Mining and Reclamation, LLC. Elk Ridge Mining and Reclamation is a wholly-owned subsidiary of wholesale electric power cooperative Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association, Inc.

Tri-State board officers elected following 2016 Annual Meeting.
Tri-State held its 64th annual meeting in Broomfield, Colo., on April 6, 2016. Approximately 490 electric cooperative representatives and industry officials attended the meeting to review the association's performance and discuss the issues facing the electric utility industry.

Tri-State lauds Supreme Court decision to stay Clean Power Plan
On Feb. 9, 2016, the U.S. Supreme Court granted the applications of numerous parties, including Tri-State, to stay EPA's Clean Power Plan for the period of time the rule is being challenged in court.

New Mexico jury affirms cooperative business model in Las Conchas fire trial
A jury in the Sandoval County District Court affirmed that Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association Inc. is not responsible for the actions of Jemez Mountains Electric Cooperative, Inc. (JMEC), one of its 44 member distribution cooperatives, in a trial stemming from the 2011 Las Conchas Fire in New Mexico.

Tri-State Announces 25-Megawatt Alta Luna Solar Project
Partnership among Tri-State G&T, Columbus Electric, TurningPoint Energy and Investors will serve electric cooperatives across four states. They announced the execution of a 25-year contract to supply the utility with renewable energy from the planned Alta Luna Solar Project to be constructed in Luna County in southwest New Mexico.
